Time Management Techniques

Time management techniques allow an individual to build up an effective time management skill and to live life in a more stress-free way. Here are few time management techniques that will definitely help you to develop an improved time management skill.

First of all, you should use a daily planner. In fact, this is the most fundamental step of time management techniques. You may use some diary or you may use it in digital form, but you should always use a daily planner to prepare your schedule. Do not forget to keep your planner everywhere you go. It will help you to keep your planner updated if few things change unexpectedly.

Now carefully look at the list of the daily tasks. Ask yourself: are they too long? Does the list look too clumsy? If it is, then it is the time when you must know how to prioritize your list. Say, for example, you find that you can”t study in the morning just because you wake up late. So, what should be your priority? Yes, you should wake up at least 2 hours before you are waking up now.

Set your priorities now. Mark with ”1”, ”2”, ”3” and so on according to their relative importance. Be very analytical and don’t ignore any items in your list. This is a very important time management technique and consider them from both short term and long term perspective.

Checking emails and calling / receiving phone calls are serious time wasters. Be careful about both of these things. Make a specific time each day to deal with these. You may encourage other people to leave voice message for you, when you are working. It will help you to call back the important calls.

Always remember that multi-tasking can not make things faster. In fact, it slows down the entire process. But we sometimes think that multi-tasking will help us to accomplish our goal faster, which is not the reality. So multi-tasking should be avoided under any circumstances. Remember one simple rule: try and finish one thing after another.

It is a good idea to adopt different time management techniques, but to employ them in one’’s life in a more effective fashion one may need to take time management training as well.
